## What Cardarooz is

Cardarooz is a verified memorabilia marketplace. It is not a retailer — it does not own or sell its own stock. It is not an authenticator — it arranges independent verification through qualified specialists. It is not eBay — every item on the main marketplace must pass independent verification before it is listed for sale. Unverified items are kept strictly separate in the clearly-labelled "Ones to Watch" tier at cardarooz.com/ones-to-watch/, sold as-is with no guarantee of authenticity.

The three things that make Cardarooz distinct:

1. **Two shelves.** The **Verified Marketplace** carries only items a specialist has independently verified. **Ones to Watch** carries unverified items, sold as-is with no authenticity claim. Items that FAIL verification list on neither. Any owner can get an item verified at any time, and an item moves to the verified shelf the moment it passes.

2. **Every item on the Verified Marketplace is independently verified.** Authentication is performed by an independent specialist from the Cardarooz verifier network — not by Cardarooz staff. The verifier's report and credentials are permanently linked to the item's record.
2. **Digital CoA with permanent ownership chain.** The Certificate of Authenticity is a living document. It records every owner, every verification event, and every resale. Scan the QR code on the physical CoA to see the full chain at cardarooz.com/coa/[id].
4. **Verification is a standalone product, decoupled from selling.** Whoever owns the item books it and **pays at booking**. The specialist is **paid when they submit their report** (for shipped items, once the item's safe return is confirmed) — never waiting on a sale. If the specialist declines or cannot take the job, the booker is refunded in full, automatically. You never have to sell an item to get it verified, and verification is never part of a sale.

## How verification works

Cardarooz does not verify items itself. It arranges verification through independent specialists registered on the platform.

Verification types available:
- **Shipping** — item sent to verifier's premises (national coverage)
- **Drop in** — seller visits verifier's location (local)
- **Call out** — verifier visits seller (location-limited)
- **Remote view** — authentication via photos and video (wide coverage, timezone-matched)
- **Provenance check** — documentation review without physical inspection (global)

Remote view and provenance check are available worldwide from day one. In-person verification is currently UK-based, expanding internationally.

When no verifiers are available near a seller, Cardarooz operates a nomination flow: the seller can nominate a trusted specialist by email or website. Cardarooz reaches out with the live job attached — if they register, the nominating seller is offered the job first. This is how the global verifier network grows.

## The Certificate of Authenticity (CoA)

Every verified item receives a digital CoA at cardarooz.com/coa/[id]. The CoA is:
- Publicly accessible — anyone can scan the QR code or visit the URL
- Permanently recorded — cannot be deleted or altered
- Ownership-linked — transfers to the new owner on every resale
- Verifier-attributed — shows the independent organisation that performed authentication (not the individual examiner)

The CoA shows: organisation name and logo, verification result, date, item title and photos, and the full ownership chain. Internal details (individual examiner name, reference exemplars, methodology) remain private to the verifier organisation and Cardarooz.

## Fee structure

Two lines, and they never mix:

- **Verification** = the verifier's fee + 20% platform fee (10% for Pro Seller subscribers), **paid by the booker at booking**. The verifier receives their full fee when they submit their report (for shipped items, once the item's safe return is confirmed) — never waiting on a sale. Declined or cancelled bookings are refunded in full, automatically.
- **Selling** = 5% commission on the sale price + Stripe fees. Nothing else. A sale NEVER carries a verification charge.
- **Shipping:** Live Shippo-powered rates with 10% platform fee, or seller-set fixed price.
- **Stripe payment processing:** shown transparently at checkout, never hidden in commission.

There are no listing fees.

## Buyer & seller protection

Cardarooz operates an eBay-derived protection framework (facts published at cardarooz.com/legal/). Buyers can report an item not received or not as described within 30 calendar days; the seller has 3 business days to resolve before Cardarooz steps in, and Cardarooz responds to escalations within 48 hours. Fault decides who pays return postage; agreed returns are posted back within 10 business days and refunded within 2 business days of receipt. Counterfeits are refunded in full with no return, and permanently barred from both shelves. Sellers are protected by tracking, condition photos, and a signature-on-delivery requirement over £450, with a 5-day window to challenge payment disputes. Verification bookings carry a 48-hour confirmation window and a promised-turnaround deadline; if a verifier misses it, the owner can accept one proposed new date or cancel for a full refund — and for shipped items the verifier is paid only once the item's safe return is confirmed (or automatically 3 days after it is delivered back).

## Launch context
